PostRon Mertz may retire after this year

Ron Mertz, the 9-time Red Bull World Series champion, has announced that if he wins his 10th title this year, he will retire. He wants his career to end on a high note. It has been rumored that if he retires, Jared Pierce would take over the car he vacated, renumbered to 37. It is also rumored that Team Jrod and Mertz Racing Technologies would merge if that happened.

Pierce comments on possible merger:

"If it works out the way that it might work out, the merger would be a great thing for both of us. I for one would love to be teammates with Mr. Mertz. Maybe he can finally teach me that final corner on the simulator track."
