Howard Kohler, CEO and President of the GRC, has announced today that the Lowell SuperSpeedway has been removed from the calendar:

"I honestly believe such a great speedway should have its final race be the stockcars that we know and loved. Thats what the track was built for and run for, after all."

It is unknown what will take the place of the fabled speedway. WRA and ISC have already announced they will not be returning to the track, which means the famed 2.0 mile D-Shaped oval will slowly creep into disrepair.
